Mount Pelion
Pigadi Village in Pelion
Pigadi (pronounced Pigathi) is a picturesque hamlet by the sea and is 4.5km from Pteleos and 65km from Volos. Beautiful sandy beaches surround the hamlet. On the west side, the country road leads to the beaches of Lotro, Agioi Apostoloi and Lihoura.
On the south side it leads to the beach Hrisi Akti Panagias (Golden Coast). Around the port you will find fish tavernas, all serving fresh fish caught by the local fishermen.
On the west side of the hamlet, another country road leads up the hill to the old Venetian castle. The view from here is magnificent, with Trikeri and Pelion all in glorious sight.
On the first days of August a large festival takes place at the port and lasts 2 days. It is called the "Fisherman's Night" (Psarathiki Vrathia). Here you will be offered free fish and wine. Pigadi is a perfect place for a quite and peaceful vacation, away from the stress of the city.
