The Villages of Northwest Pelion
The North West region of Pelion is a fairly small part of the Peninsula and comprises of a number of villages. Included here are two of the most famous in all of Pelion – those of Portaria and Makrinitsa.
This part of Pelion is easily accessible from the city of Volos, and Portaria is just a short drive from the city. The road leading to this part of the peninsula connects the city with the famous ski center of Agriolefkes, which is very popular for ski and winter sports.
Portaria and Makrinitsa are both very traditional villages, each with its own unique charm and beauty. Both of these villages are extremely popular with visitors throughout the year, and each make an ideal holiday destination all year round.
The mountainous village of Hania also forms part of North West Pelion, and this village is the highest of all in the peninsula, and one that connects the north west of Pelion with the North East.
