Mount Pelion
Sourpi Village in Pelion
This is one of the biggest villages in the area of Almyros. It is 51km from Volos and 16km from Almyros. The villagers are occupied with olive trees and the processing of tomatoes.
At the entrance of the village you will see the stone church of Agios Georgios, which was built in 1892. At the cobble-stoned square you will see the church of Agia Paraskevi, which is dedicated to her. On July 25th is a two-day celebration in her honour.
During the first week in August many activities take place such as cultural, festivities, theatre plays and music. On the last Sunday of Halloween, at the end of March, a large party-carnival takes place at the village square. You must also try to visit the village's barbeque tavernas where you can enjoy very tasty traditional dishes.
