Mount Pelion
Pouri Village in Pelion
At an altitude of 450m and 52km from Volos, this mountainous traditional village is set in green scenery in a forest of apple and chestnut trees.
The natural border with the village of Zagora is a green hill with a small river. Pouri is the last village on the main road on the east of Pelion.
The square of the village is known as the "Aegean Sea's Balcony". It has three levels and the view from here is majestic, especially during the summer when you have a perfect view of the beach of Horefto and the Aegean Sea. On a clear day, you can sometimes even see Halkidiki in North Greece.
You must visit the monastery of Panagis Rasova, which was built in the 13th century and is situated in a beautiful green area. For a swim you can go to the quite sandy beaches of Vriou (8km) and Elitsas (3km). Elitsas incidentally means "Small Olive". For trekking you can follow the path that leads to the deserted village of Palio Mitzela (Old Mitzela).
