Mount Pelion
Kottes Village in Pelion
Kottes is another beautiful quaint fishing hamlet by the sea, 66km from Volos. It offers a beautiful view of the Pagasitic Gulf. It is also 6km before the village of Trikeri, which is on the right side of the main road.
The small fishing port with the little houses built around it is like a scene from a postcard. It is a perfect place for vacations. At the port you can find fish tavernas, which serve fresh fish caught by the local fishermen, local wine, tsipouro and home made traditional foods.
You can take a nice walk through the olive groves, following the path out of the hamlet and near by the spring water fountain, and head towards Trikeri. From here if you keep going, you will end up in the small fishing village of Agia Kiraki. Here you can also enjoy seafood and local wine and tsipouro in the tavernas near the port.
Another choice of a day trip from here is to Palio Trikeri (Old Trikeri) or Nisi Tis Panagias (Panagias Island) as it is known today. This is a very beautiful quite island, and has wonderful scenery. You can sail to the island by boat from Alogopirgo, which can be caught a little before Trikeri.
